“Operation Eagle Claw” was the name of a top-secret, failed military operation,

Which was carried out by the US Army Delta Force on April 25, 1980, to liberate those Americans,

who were spying against the Islamic Revolution at the US Embassy in Tehran and were taken hostage by the revolutionaries.

In the early hours of the morning of April 25, 1980, the third US military helicopter was damaged at Tabas Airport and could not be restarted,

thus, out of eight helicopters, only five were able to operate, which were apparently not enough.

At 1:20 am, General Beckwith, the commander of American operations in Tabas, after consulting with US President Jimmy Carter, decided to cancel the operation and return.

At 2:15 am, the rear part of one of the five existing helicopters hit the fuselage while trying to take off, and suddenly a huge fire broke out.

Five occupants of the plane and three occupants of the helicopter were burned.

A helicopter containing many secret documents, including the map and information of internal operatives, was left in the desert,

“At 4 am Tehran time, the rest of the forces fled from Tabas airport to the southern borders of the country.”
